The true meaning of being a knight….

This article is a well written summary of how one became a medieval knight, and what was expected of one’s conduct ever after.

This is all very interesting for someone (like me!) who is not an expert on such things but still likes to know about it. Especially when everything about knighthood was so very revered and respected in the medieval period. Being a knight was the lodestone of these men’s very existence.

William the B … er, Conqueror

This piece, by Marc Morris in History Extra, describes the events that followed the previous usurpation from France. A lot more violent, indeed, than the early reign of the first “Tudor”, although his son and grandchildren changed that ..The Death of Harold at the Battle of Hastings, 1066.
