More C17 coincidences

8) Richard III was negotiating to marry the King of Portugal’s sister when he died. Henry VII may also have tried to do so. Charles II did marry the King of Portugal’s sister.

9) Edward IV was paid a secret annuity by Louis XI after 1475. Charles II was paid a secret annuity by Louis XIV from 1670.

Can we think of any others?

Not a 17th century coincidence, but one from the 14th century. Richard II had a queen named Anne (of Bohemia) and was deposed and killed by a Lancastrian usurper named Henry (IV). Richard II was probably 33 by a month when he died – his exact date of death isn’t known – so even his age is almost a match for Richard III. I find all this very curious.

This may not seem like a coincidence but King Edward lV and French King Louis Xl both died in the same year in 1483 and Edwards grandson Henry Vlll and King Francis l both died in 1547.
